2010 ELECTION RESULTS

In 2010, Defenders Action Fund primarily targeted races where we wanted to help re-elect our conservation allies in Congress. Despite a tough political climate, Defenders racked up a number of successes.

New Mexico - Martin Heinrich re-elected to the U.S. Congress!

Defenders was there to help Rep. Martin Heinrich get elected in 2008 and in 2010 we returned to New Mexico's first congressional district to make sure he got a repeat victory.

Rhode Island - Lincoln Chafee elected as governor!

Having made his mark as a true conservationist during his time in the U.S. Senate, Defenders was proud to get behind Lincoln Chafee's successful campaign to be Rhode Island's governor.

Despite a tough battle, staunch conservationist, Rep. Raúl Grijalva was returned to Congress by voters in Arizona's seventh congressional district, with help from Defenders.

California - Defenders thwarts Pombo's attempted return!

In 2006, Defenders played a key role in defeating the then-chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, Richard Pombo. In 2010 he attempted a comeback in a different congressional district, and Defenders was there to remind primary voters of his dubious past.
