In February the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund announced its endorsement of New Mexico's Rep. Tom Udall in his race for the U.S. Senate. His environmental record in the U.S. House of Representatives earned him 100% on our 2007 Conservation Report Card and he has demonstrated the kind of leadership on environmental issues that the U.S. Senate needs.

MARK UDALL WINS COLORADO SENATE RACE

Mark Udall has served the best interests of his constituents in Colorado's 2nd District for ten years. In 2007 he received a 90% score on the Defenders Action Fund Conservation Report Card, shoring up a lifetime score of 98%. His support for clean energy solutions and protection of America's air land and water earned him our support in his 2008 run for US Senate.
His opponent, former Congressman Bob Schaffer voted for tax breaks for Big Oil. So it wasn't surprising that he went on to earn big money as an oil executive after leaving Congress. Mark Udall supports the solutions that will lead America to a clean and secure energy future.

In June, Defenders Action Fund endorsed Martin Heinrich in New Mexico's 1st District. Vacated by anti-environment Heather Wilson, this is a great chance for New Mexicans in the 1st district to elect a Congressman who will be a champion of the environment in Washington, instead of a champion for special interests. His opponent, Darren White, has blindly followed the disastrous policies of of George Bush. But Martin Heinrich will provide the right kind of leadership on the conservation issues we all care about.

In June, Defenders Action Fund endorsed Betsy Markey in Colorado's 4th District. She is opposing Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, a known enemy of the environment who has repeatedly voted against her own constituents' interests. If elected to Congress, Markey promises to be a leader on tackling global warming and protecting America's natural resources.
