NEW DEFENDERS ACTION FUND RADIO AD HITS POMBO ON CHENEY VISIT, BIG OIL MONEY CONNECTION
PLEASANTON, CA -- As Vice President Cheney swoops into town for a Pombo fundraiser, Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund today released a new radio ad calling attention to Rep. Pombo's vote for tax breaks for oil companies. As citizens of the 11th district well know, oil companies are sitting on record profits as they are paying more than $3 for a gallon of gas.
"Vice President Cheney's arrival is a signal to oil companies that it's time to give Pombo a big thank you for promoting their agenda," said Rodger Schlickeisen, president of the Action Fund. "The big thank you in this case means big campaign contributions."
Federal Election Campaign records show that Rep. Pombo is one of the largest recipients of oil and gas special interest money in the House of Representatives.
"Rep. Pombo was voting to give profit-laden oil companies tax breaks even as his constituents were paying more than $3 a gallon for gas," said Schlickeisen. "Makes you wonder just whose interests he is representing."
This is just the latest in a series of radio ads being run by the Defenders Action Fund. For more information on the ad, please visit www.pombointheirpocket.org.
