PRESS RELEASE
Kratovil loses re-election bid in Maryland's First Congressional District
The following statement from Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund President Rodger Schlickeisen is in response to news that Congressman Frank Kratovil has been unsuccessful in his re-election campaign to represent Maryland's First Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
"Frank Kratovil's loss in this tough-fought race is a huge disappointment to the thousands of constituents who understood his commitment to protecting the lifeblood of the Eastern Shore - the Chesapeake Bay.
"First district voters may be conservative in sensibility but in the past they have traditionally supported Republicans who understood why the Bay is so important and have voted accordingly. We hope that Andy Harris will follow that tradition.
"Frank Kratovil will be sorely missed in Congress, particularly the House Natural Resources Committee on which he sat. But he can be very proud of his principled record of making the right decision, even when it was the hard decision."
