New Mexico's Harry Teague goes down fighting

The following statement from Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund President Rodger Schlickeisen is in response to news that Congressman Harry Teague has been unsuccessful in his re-election campaign to represent New Mexico's Second Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

"Having invested considerable resources in this race we are of course very disappointed that Steve Pearce has won. Harry Teague is a principled, courageous leader who did what he thought was right, even when it wasn't popular. He never pandered and he never apologized for his decisions. Harry Teague has paid a high price for his integrity, but he can be proud of his record.

"We hope Steve Pearce keeps in mind that in the two years since his failed Senate bid, clean energy has become the inevitable solution to many of America's economic, environmental and foreign policy woes. Our addiction to dirty energy costs America billions of dollars each year. So unless our country's leaders, including Steve Pearce, embrace the clear cure to that addiction, they risk perpetuating all the problems they were elected to solve."
