PRESS RELEASE
DEFENDERS OF WILDLIFE ACTION FUND ENTERS POLITICAL GREETING CARD BUSINESSCongressman Pombo Receives Hand Delivered Cards From Constituents Telling Him "Only a Grinch Would Sell Out Our Wildlife" With only days left in the holiday season, Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund is reminding conservation-minded voters not to leave Congressman Pombo off of their holiday card mailing list. For a $25 dollar donation, Defenders Action Fund will hand deliver a card Thursday afternoon, December 22nd to Representative Pombo. But this is no ordinary greeting card. Those who know Mr. Pombo will be amused to see his resemblance to the famous Grinch. Already, hundreds of people have asked Defenders Action Fund to send a card to Mr. Pombo Stating that "Only a Grinch would sell out our wildlife!" Defenders Action Fund is encouraging conservation minded voters to take this opportunity to remind Mr. Pombo that they do not support his assaults on our natural resources. Greedy developers, oil companies and other special-interest cronies are going to bed this holiday season with visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads thanks to Mr. Pombo. Within the last six months alone, Congressman Pombo has:
- Pushed through the House a bill that would gut the Endangered Species Act;
- Proposed selling off 15 of our national parks and other public lands;
- Supported billions of dollars in tax breaks for oil and gas companies even though these same companies are reporting record profits;
- Helped lead the charge in the House to allow harmful oil and gas drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge;
- Proposed to lift the moratorium on drilling off of our fragile coastlines:
- Sought to transfer millions of acres in public lands to mining companies and private real-estate developers.
