These are dangerous times for our wildlife. Our children’s natural heritage is being sold off to the highest bidder. Greedy developers, mining corporations, and big oil companies are gobbling up more and more of our remaining wild places and America’s wildlife continues to disappear at an alarming rate

  • In 2006, President George Bush proposed selling off more than 300,000 acres of public lands to private developers. Included in these areas is crucial wildlife habitat.
  • The Department of Interior has turned over wolf management in Idaho to state officials. Within days, the state announced plans to kill up to 75% of the wolves in an area of Clearwater National Forest.
  • Representative Richard Pombo (R-CA), Chairman of the powerful House Resources Committee, has rushed legislation through the House that would gut the Endangered Species Act-- the landmark law that has helped save the bald eagle and so many animals from extinction.
  • Big Oil and their high-paid lobbyists continue to push for drilling off our coasts and in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, one of America's last great remaining wild places. Increased drilling would increase the risk of harmful oil spills and wreck sensitive wildlife habitat for polar bears, sea otters, and other wildlife.

Your Contribution's Impact

Where does your money go?
Your donation to the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund will help us educate the public about the legislative records of members of Congress, especially through our Wildlife Conservation Report Card. It will support our efforts to defeat bad policies and enact good ones, and run public education campaigns designed to hold Representatives and Senators accountable to constituents for their actions.
